Advanced Manufacturing

The Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center at County College of Morris is home to the college’s noncredit programs in advanced manufacturing. The programs are designed to serve students who are at different stages in their careers, from entry level to those who have experience and are enhancing their skills to get a promotion or simply get better at their current job. In addition, customized training options are available for companies in need of group training.

Apprenticeships 

USDOL Registered Apprenticeships provide the students with both Related Technical Instruction (RTI) and On the Job Training (OJT). CCM works with employers to establish apprenticeships to meet their needs. The college provides RTI which includes theory and hands on work. Employers assign mentors to students who are responsible for overseeing training in specific tasks. As students progress through the program, they gain knowledge and skills in preparation for their next opportunity.

CNC Programming and Set Up

This bootcamp style class provides an entry level experience with specific focus on Fanuc and Haas programming. Students will earn a variety of certificates, including OSHA-10, and at least two additional ones from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS). In addition, students will have the opportunity to earn college credit as part of this program.

Students will receive training in: 

  • Blueprint Reading

  • Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Bench Working & Safety Skills

  • 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) using AutoCAD and SolidWorks

  • Manual Machining (Mill and Lathe)

  • Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) Programming, Operation & Set Up

Students also have opportunities for resume preparation and interview practice. Qualifying students will be able to connect directly with employers for roles such as Maintenance Mechanic Technicians, Manual and CNC Machinists, CAD Drafters, QA/QC Technicians, Die Manufacturers.

Building upon the information learned in Intro to Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing Core provides you with further knowledge in the areas of Blueprint Reading, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), Bench Working Skills, Safety, 2-D AND 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD), Manual Machining and Computer Numerically Controlled Machines (CNC). After successful completion of this class, students will be eligible to earn OSHA-10 Safety Certification and NIMS: Measurement Material and Safety Certification. MFG-132E.
