Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
This introductory course in air conditioning and refrigeration provides students with foundational knowledge of HVAC/R systems, emphasizing the vapor compression cycle. Designed as the first in a series of HVAC/R training courses, it prepares students for the EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification. The curriculum, based on ESCO Institute’s official materials, covers the Core, Types I, II, and III certification areas, leading to the potential for Universal Certification. Topics include refrigerant types, environmental regulations, recovery and disposal procedures, and system diagnostics and servicing techniques.
Students will engage in both classroom and hands-on learning activities, including quizzes, practice exams, and proctored certification testing. Upon successful completion, students will be equipped to handle refrigerants safely and legally in compliance with EPA standards, enhancing their employment prospects in residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC sectors. An optional certification in A2L refrigerant safety is also available for those completing additional training in flammable refrigerant handling.
